Japanese driving licence procedures use a small 30×24 mm portrait — front-facing, upper-third framing, with 2–3 mm of space above the head. Bring it on photo paper. (Note: the photo that ends up on the licence card is usually taken by staff at the licence centre; an International Driving Permit needs a 45×35 mm photo.)
