Canada Visitor Visa (TRV) photo — requirements & how to
Canadian visitor (temporary resident) visa photos are at least 35×45 mm with the head 31–36 mm chin-to-crown. Online applications upload a digital photo: JPEG, at least 420×540 pixels, ideally around 240 KB and never below 60 KB. Canada is strict about alterations — keep the photo completely natural.
Key rules for Visitor visa
- Taken within the last 6 months; paper applications need two identical photos
- Full front view, face centred, tops of the shoulders visible; neutral expression, mouth closed
- Non-tinted prescription glasses OK if the eyes are clearly visible; sunglasses are not acceptable
- Digital photos must not be altered in any way — no filters, no retouching
- If you give biometrics (fingerprints and photo) in person, paper photos aren't needed
